Android Users Can Now Use Google’s AI-Powered Proofreading Feature
Google has started rolling out an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered “proofreading” feature on Gboard, but for now only to beta users. The “Proofread” option appears in the keyboard toolbar with Gboard version 13.4, which is currently in beta. on Android, allowing users to check their text for spelling or grammar errors on the fly, all powered by generative artificial intelligence, according to media reports.
The feature appeared on the Pixel Fold as a “Fix it” prompt with Google’s usual generative AI symbol. A pop-up window will then explain how the proofreader works. The text will be sent to Google for processing if you enable the feature.
“The proofread text is sent to Google and temporarily processed to generate grammar and spelling suggestions,” the pop-up message reads.
Users may use the feature only if they agree to these terms.
Tapping “Proofread” in the Gboard toolbar will process users’ text and provide suggestions for spelling and grammar corrections, such as punctuation. Meanwhile, a “Correct” button appears next to suggestions and automatically corrects errors when clicked, according to the report. .
Meanwhile, Google has announced a new makeover for its Android brand, introducing “Android” with a capital A instead of all lowercase letters and updating the bug Droid logo to a 3D avatar.
In addition to ditching the lower-case style of “android,” the company is raising the Android logo with a capital “A,” adding to its appearance when placed next to the Google logo.
“While we’ve added curves and personality unique to Android, the new Android style more closely reflects the Google logo and creates a balance between the two,” the company said.
